Better late than never

...right?

Hey y’all. Sorry for the delay of the blog but sometimes there is just not enough time in the day.

And its already 11:30 so you know Bobby is sweatin’ me to get down to work.

First off, sorry for the loss of the past comments. It was fun to read back and to be able to answer questions but we can just start over.

Lisa is going to be a great addition to the site and if she can ever help y’all out, she will. Thanks Lisa for all the help this week.

Bobby and I had an excellent trip to Pennsylvania. The folks were all so nice and the staff at the event was top notch. PNC is at the top of our list of the “new “ ballparks. The view of the skyline past the outfield looks fake on TV and it was such a thrill for us to get to see it in person. The Pirates
won too and the fireworks after the game were awesome.

Next on my list is Camden Yards in Baltimore.

The Deen Family will be at Grayson Stadium tomorrow night for a food drive and meet and greet if y’all can make it this way. At 5:30 mom, Bobby and I will be doing everything we can to help end hunger in our community. We throw out the first pitch at 6:30 and will stay until the fireworks after the game so we will see y’all at the ballpark.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you momma’s out there....enjoy your day!

thanks for checking back
do good things

Back to the blog.

Hi Jamie,

Will Jack get to throw a pitch out too?

To all Mothers, have a great Mother’s Day!! I’m looking forward to the calls from my sons, both live in different states, but we try and visit as often as possible. To get calls on Mother’s Day makes it very special. Hope Brooke has a great day.

Take care and have a great week!!

Hi Jamie,
Just wanted to stop by and tell you it was so great meeting you and Bobby last weekend in Altoona.  I had such fun talking to you both! We we were so glad you liked the little block set for Jack.  We love making things for the little ones!  They sure don’t stay little for long, though...those precious baby days fly by so quick!!

I have been bragging to everyone that’ll listen that I got my picture taken with you guys.  smile
If you’d like to see the pictures we took at the show, just stop by our website at http://www.shcstore.com and click on photo gallery.  Then click on the pic of you and Bobby (and me!!!) which will open up the album.

Again, it was a pleasure to get to meet you (or should I say...yinz?) smile We have long admired you and Bobby and your beautiful Momma...the story of how your family started their business is such an inspiration to all of us little family business out here!  Our little Mom and Pop operation is growing....last September I was able to give up my job as a cleaning lady at the Altoona K-Mart...Nope, don’t miss that at all!  smile

Take care and thanks again for making the show such fun!!!  Hope you come back to Altoona again someday and catch a Curve game! Happy Momma’s Day to Brooke and your Mom!

Hi Jamie,
It’s great being able to keep up with you all on the blog.  I especially love hearing about Jack since I have twin girls his age.  So much fun and so inquisitive these days!!  I do have a question.  Does any of the Deen family use Tupperware in their personal kitchens, if so which products?  Thank you for your time and all the delicious recipes!

By Jeri on May 07 2009

My mom and I attended the event last weekend in Altoona and had a blast.  I actually live in the Baltimore area and am headed to Camden Yards tonight.  I definitely want to hear your thoughts about the park and a must-eat there is Boog’s BBQ (owned by former Oriole great, Boog Powell).

It was a pleasure to meet you and Bobby.  I don’t think I missed an episode of Road Tasted when you guys hosted it… it was my favorite show!

Hey Jamie,

Yes, it better late than never, but we ALL totally understand and agree that there is just not enough hours in the day. I make that statement EVERY single day.  Thank you so much for taking time to tell us what’s going on with you and your family every week.  It really means alot. I look forward to reading this every week. So glad that you & Bobby had such a great time at the baseball game.  The atmosphere at a ballpark is one of the best.  I love getting to be at a ballpark watching a game whether it be major or minor league and even college.  I don’t get to go to many games anymore cause I just don’t have the time. I sure do miss it though.  Sounds like y’all have a great night planned tomorrow night.  Sure wish I could be there but it would be a long drive from Mississippi.  Hope everything goes great witht the food drive.  Y’all always do great things for the community.  Hope Brooke and your mom have a wonderful Mother’s Day!!!  Tell Bobby HEY for me.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

Hey Jamie and Bobby, glad you’re back.  Thought you were among the missing!!!!!
Tomorrow, Saturday, is food drive day for the letter carriers.  We need to put non-perishable food in or near our mailboxes for them to pick up.  I believe this is a national food drive.  I’m doing my part—as you say, do good things.  Hope everyone else will too.

Got the new cookbook.  Recipes look good.  Hey, you need more pictures of the family!!!  Jack is adorable.

Have fun tonight at your ballgame.  Gotta get back to work.’

I wanted to tell your family thank you. I visited The Lady and Sons in February and had your buffet. Made me realize just how much of a southern belle I am. Truly authentic food and I am a southern girl from Kentucky. Thank you again for an experience of a lifetime. smile

Hey Jamie,

Nice perks you get there! lol I will be touring the Ballparks too as soon as I can afford to travel again. I have yet to get to the new Stadium in STL. Go Cards!

Have fun at the game. I saw the announcement on the news this morning and make sure you tell Brooke how much you love and care for her on Sunday. I am sure breakfast in bed would not hurt.....

Hi Jamie,

It sounds like y’all have been having a great time and are doing great things! My business partner Ron and I share the same passion of giving back and helping others and incorporate it into everything we do. We have a small independent production company, Quintessntial Films, right outside of Charleston, SC and we came down to Savannah to try and catch y’all at the restaurant a few weeks ago to talk to you about two projects we developed just for ya’ll that incorporates entertainment along with helping your community, various charities, and people in need. We also want them to be filmed in Savannah so y’all can be home and with your family. We know y’all are extremely busy but we would truly appreciate any time you could spare for us so we could at least briefly share these projects with y’all. One of our motto’s is that if you don’t ask then you don’t get so any amount of time, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.

Wishing y’all nothing but the best and hope to hear from you soon. Have a Fantastic Weekend and a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s in your family!

Hi Jamie,

Glad to hear the game was good and you liked the stadium. It’s always so much better to see the games in person. My Mother’s day gift is tickets to the D-Backs game for Sunday, but I had unexpected surgery on Monday, so it looks like no game for me. :(
Oh well, next time. How did the game go for you guys on Friday night with the food drive?

Hope your weekend is great. Wishes to Brooke and Paula for a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Take care,

Hi Jamie!
Since Camden Yards,(which by the way it’s beautiful!) is next is on your list of ballparks to visit, may I suggest Citizens Park in Philly?! It’s pretty cool, too!
I was upset that I couldn’t go to meet you and of course Bobby,in Altoona but I already had plans for that weekend, anyways, when are you boyz coming to Philly or Atlantic City?
Happy Mother’s Day to your mom Mrs.Paula and of course, to your lovely wife Brooke!

Hey Boys, Love your Blog Jamie, I read it all the time....Hope to be coming to see you all really soon, give my love to your Mother…

Hi guys ~

My dear and incredibly busy friend Adam, was kind enough to come over to my house for two hours on Saturday (before we had to go to a BBQ/birthday party) and fix two of my computers.  I would have asked Phil - but Phil is just WAY too busy working on his MW Application to help out with such an insignificant matter.

Now that I’m good as new, I finally heard the Q&A;session.  Just to clarify, I was in Nashville in 2006, actually for a Paula Meet & Greet - super fun time! There were people from all over the north and south. Nearly everyone was fantastic, but there were some who did not care for this “Yankee” girl - because I’m from the north.

I was cool through the whole thing. I am thick-skinned and it takes a lot to offend me.  More of an observation than anything. As Rachel would say, “It’s all good.” Yes, that Rachel. Just an fyi - Honey, I can dish out some “cracker” when needed.

I’m seriously considering moving to the south, but I don’t have a specific city in mind.
All I know, winter in Minnesota is going to wear me out very soon. I want to live some place where I can be outside most of the year - cycling, in-line skating, boating and fishing. Golf - working on that. Savannah sounds pretty amazing - ya’ll (I can do it) sell it so well.  Phil, give it up, 9 years and not a hint of Southern Man. How does that happen?  smile

So many unanswered questions in the Q&A;(time of course), hopefully you will be able to cover them another time.  Perhaps, they could be included in the blog sometime?  Just thinking - uh oh.

Have a fantastic week!

Hey again ~

Too funny!  I do believe I spelled that incorrectly.

Apparently, I can say it, just can’t spell it.

See, that’s what I get for writing after 1:30am.

Thanks again for signing my poster Friday night. My husband was the crazy guy who wore the blond wig on the 2nd cruise.  I had top dollar offers leaving the ball park Friday night for that poster but to me its priceless.  Let me know when you come to Baltimore Camden Yards is one of the best ball parks.  Thanks again!!

HI Jamie-
It’s about time you guys came to Camden Yards- the MOST Beautiful Ballpark in the USA - (and the one all others have been copied from)… can ya tell I’m a proud Maryland girl and LOVE my O’s even if they struggle.
While you’re there definantly try Boog’s BBQ as Amanda said it’s a MUST and you can check out the markers on Eutaw Street where home run balls have landed- it’s a big deal cuz it’s really far from home plate.
If you have a few days to roam around check out Aberdeen, Maryland which is Cal Ripken’s hometown and where he has built a mini Camden Yards- Ripken Stadium. The Aberdeen Ironbirds, the O’s Single-A short season team play there and they have a great stadium and great food. My hometown, Salisbury, Md is home to the Delmarva Shorebirds, who play your Sandnats. So as you can see there is lots of baseball stuff in Maryland to check out since pretty much all of our minor league teams are in the state. We’re just waiting for you to visit… grin

Enjoy your week !!

Hi Jamie

I enjoy reading all of the posts on your blog. You do realize that some of these women are just pimpin’ you to get to Bobby...right? haha! (jk) You have a very personal connection with your fans. I’ve always said you’d be a heck of a lot of fun to have over for a bar-b-que or to taligate with! You say Go Dawgs, but we say Boiler Up! BTW, you’re a perfect candidate for Twitter! haha!

Keep blogging!

Jamie,
First off - Happy Mother’s Day to Brooke and Paula. I’m sure there was some pampering going on in the Deen households.

It’s been awhile - I’ve been traveling myself.  Currently in Seattle facilitating my fourth our of six regional meetings with our hotel franchisees.  Early, early flight out of Savannah this morning but landed in time to grab a quick bite at Lowell’s at the Pike Place Market.  I absolutely love the produce and flower vendors.  Couldn’t resist, had to purchase some fresh raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and cherries...it will make for a healthier breakfast than hotel pastries.  A mere 55 degrees here - but at least the sun was shining today.  A slight difference from our 90 degree weather on Tybee this weekend. Saw a t-shirt in the Pike Place Market and thought of your Mom...it was a pretty yellow and simply said “Butter” on the front.

Glad you enjoyed your baseball game - reminded me of the games I would attend when I lived in Memphis.  Our Redbirds stadium is the number one rated AAA baseball stadium in the country and it also has some mighty good BBQ nachos. They go down nicely with an ice cold microbrew.  Sorry I missed you all at last Friday’s SandGnats game - I hope the food drive was a success.

Ok now I have a question for you - what is your greatest golfing memory?

I hope you all have a great week.
Regards,
Hallie

Hi Bobby & Jamie!

My sister, my mom & I had the great pleasure of meeting you and your mom at the Sandgnats game.  It was definitely an added bonus to a great ballgame!  Between my sister & I we took quite a few photos so if you want any just let me know and I’d be happy to pass them along your way.  I just wanted to thank you again for being so kind to me and my family.  I also wanted to say that you should be extremely proud of your staff at The Lady and Sons.  My sister & I treated my mom and aunt to the Mother’s Day brunch.  It was crazy busy but your staff ran everything smoothly and with a smile.  Our waiter Brandon was fabulous! I give him major credit for being able to wait on my boisterous family without needing therapy afterwards.  Please pass on to your Uncle Bubba that his staff is amazing too.  Our waiter Kylan was topnotch!  Anyways I just wanted to say thank you so very much for making my mom’s Mother’s Day the best ever.  My brother gets to use the excuse that he gave my mom a grandchild for Mother’s Day.  This year my sister & I won out because we gave her the experience of Savannah & you.  Thank you so much smile
