everyone have a nice holiday?
We had a great time down here. Jack has officially moved Easter ahead of Christmas and a close second to Halloween on his list of favorite holidays. If we let him dress up like a shark or Superman or a tiger it would be number one.
He got to have candy for breakfast. And lunch. And dinner.
Brooke’s family was here and we all piled into Mom’s house for lunch....it was awesome, of course.
Standing rib roast, a giant baked ham, fresh corn, broccoli casserole, fresh green beans with red potatoes, pineapple casserole, macaroni and cheese, creamed potatoes, turnip greens with cornbread dumplings (my favorite), hot yeast rolls and our cousin Johnny sent the best red velvet cake down from her bakery in Atlanta.
How’s that sound?
On that note, I had a few folks ask how I managed to drop some lbs. Start here and let me say no seconds.... as hard as it was to pass up.
Its really simple Sheryl and Karen. Eat better food. Period. No fad diets. No special exercise classes. I have a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast with fresh granola on top of that, maybe some fruit. Sometimes I eat a boiled egg on top of cheese toast. Lunch is a lean meat with cheese and some veggies. Maybe a red bell pepper, they are sweet, delicious and good for you. For dinner I will have grilled chicken, more veggies or a big salad. The key for me is to not eat after 6 or 630. I snack on granola or nuts during the day with no candy or sweet drinks at all. I have not broke a sweat ( I should though) in the gym since I started and this morning I made my goal weight.
All I was shooting for was my wedding weight, 217, and this morning the scale showed 216 so I made it. We are attended a wedding in June and I wanted to wear the tux I got married in and that started the whole thing and now I can.
If I can do it with my tough schedule and Paula Deen cooking for me and standing in our restaurant day after day, y’all can too.
Kate, my tattoo is of my initials in a Native American style to recognize the Cherokee blood on my fathers side of the family.
Thanks for checking back in y’all. Have a great week and
go do good things.
