Happy Birthday brother…..

39 and holding. It’s hard for me to believe my little brother is pushing up to the big four oh.

I love you Bobby, Happy Happy!

Knock wood. Jack finished his second night in the big boy bed without any fussing. I really don’t care if he stayed in his crib until college but it will be nice to free up some space in his room when we can take it down. I don’t know if I told y’all we went through this before and after two nights I slipped into his room while his momma was giving him a bath and took the crib apart...well as soon as he walked in he said” Daddy, where’s my crib!”. A couple of tears later and daddy was building that sucker right back up.

So anyway, knock wood.

I want to fill y’all in about mom’s eyes. Don’t be alarmed...its like dry tear ducts or something. There is a word for it but I can’t pronounce it much less spell it so let’s go with dry tear ducts. She is taking some meds but the duct in our eyes is the last place in the body to react , or something close to that, and its takes eight weeks or so to respond. She should be close to that now and I will fill y’all in next week.

The crew rolled in last night from the book tour and of course there is a big family dinner tonight in Bobby’s honor. I wonder whats on the menu?

It will be good to catch up with mom...ten days away is a long trip. No rest for the weary though, the west coast swing of the tour starts up in a few days.

Bobby and I will be in Altoona, Pennsylvania this Sunday doing a food show so if y’all find yourself in Altoona, come on over. We are going to take in a Pittsburgh Pirates game Saturday night while we are there. That is our favorite thing to do on the road is visit major league ballparks. Fenway and Wrigley are our top choices with the Oakland Athletics facility bringing up the rear. We hear good things about the park in Pittsburgh so we are excited to see some baseball.

Speaking of baseball, we are hosting our annual “Lady and Sons Night” at Grayson stadium here in Savannah on the 8th of May. It is to benefit our local America’s Second Harvest and is one of the highlight’s of our year. Y’all come down and bring a food item, meet the whole family and pitch in to help fight hunger in Savannah.

Billy Jones. I did live in Dawson, Georgia. 1000 years ago...check out the memory on Billy. We lived in that yellow house and my daddy sold every car he could....which lasted less than a year. I guess we were in school together at Terrell Academy?

Thanks for checking back in y’all. The restaurant is about to open and I need to get to it.....

do good.

Will y’all be coming to or near Dallas anytime in the future?

My 78 year old mother and I are coming from Nashville to Savannah on May 11th and 12th.  We love you, Paula and Bobby!  Any chance ya’ll are going to be at the restaurant one of those days at supper time?  I don’t think my mother would ever be the same if she got to meet ya’ll and have her picture made with you.  Even if you aren’t going to be there....we’re going to be sure to get reservations to eat at The Lady and Sons restaurant!  Thanks, Rosanna

Hi there,
What’s going on with Jamie blog? It’s all different! Where did all of the old post go?
and Why did Paula cancel her west coast book tour? Is it about the swine flu! If it is I don’t blame her.
Well, bye, bye for now!

We apologize for the changes with the blog. We rolled out a new version of the site, and in the roll out, all the comments from past blogs vanished into cyberspace. Please accept our apologies.

Sorry to hear about the comments rolling out into cyberspace. Hope Jamie and Bobby got a chance to read them.

Hi Jamie and Bobby,

Hope you had a great Birthday, Bobby! Have a great time at the game this weekend.

I’m sorry to see that Paula isn’t doing her West Coast stops right now. I was looking forward to seeing her this weekend. But I know it must be difficult to travel so much. It seems like she has been out on the road for a long time. Hopefully she can get some rest.

Have a great weekend. Take Care!

Hey all, we made (actually Lisa made) some big changes to the site to make it more interactive and in that process we’ve lost those older comments.

Having said that I have full confidence in y’all to fill these comments right back up again.

Hey guys, I, too, miss reading all the past comments.  Hopefully this won’t happen again.  Can honestly say I’ve lost “stuff” to cyberspace!!!  i believe it’s still floating out there!!!

I’m sorry to hear Paula is under the weather but seeing and hearing about this swine flu, I’m glad she is staying home to rest.  She’s one busy lady.

When’s the next podcast, Phil???  Sit those bros down and make ‘em talk.

Have fun in Pennsylvania.

I agree with DonnaS, it usually takes telling my husband and sons something more than once before they actually hear me. smile

Hi Jamie! Love your blog and hearing about your family. The story of you rebuilding Jack’s bed made me laugh!! Happy be-lated Birthday to Bobby.

Lisa and Phil...how is the web site more interactive with the “rolled out new version” (WTH does that even mean?!)...what changed? Not trying to be a smarta$$, I’m just computer dumb! lol

By Teresa on May 01 2009

It basically means we added new features, for example, the menus are now updated daily. So you can now see daily specials immediately as the restaurant creates them.

The roll out was designed to make updating the website easier on our staff down at the restaurant, which means those of you visiting the website will get more current information on each visit.

Jamie,
When will the People magazine issue come out with your family? Have a great time this weekend.

Hey Jamie and Bobby…
Hope you had a great bday Bobby!!!  I can’t believe your 39 either...you look much younger!!!  Happy Birthday again and many more!!!  Sounds like a great weekend guys!  It’s funny...we like going to ballparks too when we visit places.  Living in FL, we get the chance to see quite a few great games during spring training season too.  Have a great time at the game and the food show!  I don’t know if you guys have been to Toronto but if you do visit, definitely check out a Jays game at Rogers Centre...the stadium is incredible and so is the city!  Wow, all this talk about baseball makes me want to go see a game, soon…
Very funny reading about putting the crib back together, just hang in there...it will happen...good luck!
Hope your mom is feeling better!
Take care guys!!!

By Marina on May 01 2009

Hey Jamie,

Good luck with Jack!
Happy Bday BD hope it was great one.

Speaking of ballparks...not sure if you guys have made it to our fairly new ballpark in Philly (Citizens Bank Park.) It’s the ultimate experience with great views from all angles, the most passionate fans, sold out crowds, best of Philly foods, cold draft beers and most of all the best team and masscotte. RIP Harry Kalas.
Also, just a short trip from NY and 10 minutes from Philly airport.
Iam a season ticket holder at 3rd base line w/ 2 tickets (me and my Pop) so if you can’t get tic’s let me know and you can use mine. Although, Iam sure you have connections.
FYI...Braves are in town May 8th and again in August. We’ll talk more about baseball and the Braves in Septemeber...could be a contender for Philly?

Have fun and thanks for blogging.

Hi Guys!
Happy Birthday Bobby! My birthday was April 29th and I just turned 39 as well! Power to the late 30 somethings!! Miss Paula we’re prayin for you.

By Janine Wiggins on May 02 2009

Happy Belated Birthday Bobby! I hope it was a great one! Jamie, Jack’s transition to his big boy bed is probably harder on you and Brooke than it is on him...he’ll be moving that bed off to college before you know it! I hope your mom gets better soon! Honestly, I have no idea what you’re talking about with her eyes, but it doesn’t sound fun. Be careful traveling and have fun at the baseball game!
BTW, admins, great ideas for the site! But then again, I wouldn’t expect any different. Ya’ll are great!

By Meagan on May 02 2009

Hey Jamie,
I hope you enjoyed your visit to PNC Park. I would have asked you for an autograph but, I’m not allowed. When I said you looked like Alec Baldwin, I meant a younger thinner version! I’m glad you got to see the Pirates beat the Reds. I hope you had a good time. You seem like a really great person, it was very nice to meet you.

Hey Jamie and Bobby!
I just met the two of you today at the Altoona, Pa. show and I was completely blown away by how nice and approachable you both were. I arrived too late for the first book signing and ran into you in the doorway as you were eating pickles!! You still took the time to pose for a picture with me and Bobby and it made my day. I have always thought your mom was the perfect balance of sass and class and she has done a fantastic job raising 2 sons as wonderful as yinz (haha). It truly was an pleasure to meet you both.

Hey guys! I tried posting a comment, but it disappeared, so I am writing a new one.  Hope you guys have a great week. Gotta get your cute faces back to NJ REAL soon! Bobby, when are we going to have a Bobby Jr. in the world?  I would love to have your baby and be your wife!  I miss you, you southern hunk!  Well, have a great week. Phil, can you please post this?  It is not harmful! Thanks!

Hey youns smile.  It’s Bobbi from Altoona, PA.  It was so nice to meet both of you and I enjoyed your presentation even if you didn’t do much cookin--ha ha smile.  I am glad that you enjoyed PNC park--I hope you had a Primanti Brothers sandwich while there.  Wrigley Field is also one of my favorites--you can’t beat the classics--but I am very proud of PNC.  Hopefully if y’all come back to PA, you can check out a Curve game--that field is so nice, great views and cheap seats.  It’s always a blast.  Hope you both enjoyed your trip to PA.  Happy belated Birthday to you, Bobby smile
