is over!
I mean, thank goodness for the business that our city gets but it has always been kind of a pain in the rear end too.
The Lady and Sons is always slower than normal and we have to close earlier than usual and now that St. Pats is in the rear-view mirror we can get into the heart of our season.
Brooke and I brought Jack down for his third St. Pat’s parade and he had a super fun time. The parade is one of the best family traditions in Savannah and we are enjoying seeing his reaction to all the sights and sounds grow more animated every year.
Firetrucks! Soldiers! Clowns! Horses! Bands!
Sorry I am late this week. Yesterday we were at mom’s house all day for a photo shoot. People magazine is doing a piece for the release of the family cookbook. Jack did really good. There are secrets though. When y’all see the porch picture of us at the rail, he has a mouth full of peanuts!
The website for the “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” campaign got kicked off a few days ago. It is http://www.bakeittobelieveit.com and is worth checking out. It is so funny to see myself on there so y’all go have a laugh on me...and if you play the game you can win cool stuff!
Alice.
Finally.
The Tee-Eva recipe, courtesy of our good friend Deb M.
(Thanks for getting me off the hook for this Deb)
Make your roux with 2 oz of butter and 2 oz of flouradd into the roux a “holy trinity” of green peppers, celery and onions about a cup of each. Saute that down until the veggies are soft. Add blue crabs that have been boiled and cut in half. save that stock. Add raw shrimp, season with creole seasoning, cayenne pepper, white pepper(careful with this!), thyme, and garlic powder. Cover the whole mess with your crab pot stock and cook until shrimp are done. Serve it over rice garnish with parsley and add a pinch of feli powder. This was the ingredient that was foreign to me....and still is.
How’s that Alice! A thousand thanks Deb M.
And to all of y’all too. Talk to you next week.
Do good.
