I’m Back on schedule

Hey Y’all…….

I’m back on schedule.

Bobby and I had a chance to get over to Americas second harvest this week and share some good news and a check with them. On the Paula Deen cruise this year was the opportunity to enter a raffle where the grand prize was my brother…..well at least dinner with him. All of the proceeds went to a charity of Bobby’s choice and he choose the local food bank. So we went and presented Mary Jane (the director) with a check for 12 dollars!

Just kidding, you know I gotta keep my little brother in check. He raised over three thousand dollars that will go a long way here in Savannah to help some local families through the holidays.

The shrinking economy is putting a hurt on the efforts of food banks across the country to help feed the hungry. Y’all know I serve on the board at Second Harvest here in Savannah and I have written about this before but it is worth repeating…find a way to make a difference. The food bank in your area needs help.

It is hard even for us who are blessed with families and jobs and friends who can offer guidance and support. Imagine the feeling of hopelessness for those who are dependent on the charity of others. It really is up to us, our small group that meets on a blog every Tuesday, to spread the word and share our blessings to the people in our community that needs it the most.

So get to it!

Thanks to the folks who chimed in last week….I was a little nervous about dipping my toe into any kind of politics and I managed to do it without making anyone mad!

Phil is planning on starting up a podcast with bobby and me next week, so if y’all think you can stand it, there will be the sounds of the Deen brothers coming soon…..

Thanks again y’all, get out and make a difference

Back to the blog.

Hi Paula.
I think it is great what you do for our community. I am a child portrait photographer in Savannah, and I am researching charities that benefit children--foster children, abused children, etc., but I am having a difficult time finding any. Can you recommend any? Thank you for your time.
