we flew in late last night from New York.
Bobby and I are happy to have been hired to promote the new campaign and launch of “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Cooking and Baking Sticks”. This is a healthy alternative to butter that bakes and cooks just like butter with half the saturated fat and 0 trans fats. It really does taste and cook like butter and the whole thing will launch on the website http://www.bakeittobelieveit.com in the middle of March.
We were shooting video for the website the last two days and it was about as cold as my South Georgia rear end could stand.... 19 degrees yesterday!
This weeks mailbag was pretty full so here goes:
Diane hates okra because it is slimy....me too. So you fry it.
Megan, my favorite pasta salad recipe is to take a dry Italian seasoning packet and to their recipe add a couple of tablespoons of mayo to help the dressing stick to your pasta and about a teaspoon of sugar. Toss this with any kind of cooked pasta and some blanched veggies. Add cooked chicken and fresh mozzarella cheese, some olives, anything you like on a salad really and you will love it. It is one of my families favorite quick dinners.
Deb M, I will keep you posted on the time line of the cruise. I don’t think even the cruise folks have it yet and our self published cookbook was titled “Favorite Recipe’s of The Lady & Her Friends”. This was tweaked by Random House and published as “The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cookbook”. We only had 5000 printed before the rights were bought by RH and the only way to get one is a lucky find at a yard sale or on EBAY, where I have seen them sold for five or six hundred dollars.
Kate, the pros, in a nutshell, of living in Savannah are: January the 23rd temp, 68 degrees. The con, July the 23rd temp, 102.....humidity 100 percent. Hallie summed it up pretty well....it is like living on vacation.
Drew, I don’t know a food that pairs well with cigars but I would guess a hearty flavor....you just can never go wrong with a bone-in ribeye about 2 inches thick cooked on the grill.
Rose, how about your Cardinals!?! Good luck in the Super Bowl.
A few people asked about a good place to stay in Savannah and I like The Planters Inn. All of our family stayed there when Brooke and I got married. Its 2 blocks from the restaurant and a beautiful place to stay.
The question is what is a roof rake.....I’m gonna guess a snow blower?
Thank Y’all for writing in and checking back....have a wonderful week.
do good things
