we sure have been busy.
The family had a great time on vacation at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Brooke and I have been down there several times and it was so much fun to have the whole family down to share in the the good times.
I celebrated my third fathers day doing what I do best....kissing Jack every five minutes all day long. He came up Sunday morning and gave me a kiss and said,"Happy Fathers day daddy” and that’s really all I need.
Mom and Bobby and I rode over to Americus Ga. this past Tuesday, thats why I’m late this week, and did a benefit for The Boy’s and Girls club with President Carter. He introduced mom and said how much he enjoyed sitting next to a real famous person as he was able to eat his dinner without being asked for an autograph or a photo....he and Miss Rosalyn are two of our favorite people and we were happy to spend a night with them and help out the wonderful people that are in charge of the young folks in southwest Georgia.
Jack shot pictures with mom yesterday for the November issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.....the cover, of course. The folks from NY brought him a firetruck gift set and he did so good playing fireman and smiling for the camera. He is totally potty trained now by the way...even wakes up at night to go to the bathroom. Brooke and I are so proud of him and excited to not carry diapers anymore. All we need now is handy wipes and a juice cup. Free from the diaper bag!
We are having a big family booksigning at the restaurant July the 24th and Bobby and I will be at the Food Network show in Nashville July 31st so if y’all can make it to either place we would love to see you there....
My blog is not the only work I have to catch up on so I gotta boogie but thanks for checking back with me. Y’all send some questions this week and I will do my best to answer them on my next post.
Do good things
-jamie
Hi Jamie,
Glad to hear everyone had a great vacation. Understand the new cookbook you and Bobby have written is coming out in a few months, will you be coming to the West coast for a book signing? San Francisco would be a great place to come to!!
Take care and have a great week.
PS will you be blogging on the new “Get Cookin” site?

Congrats to Sweet Baby Jack and being potty trained! What a big step, for you all!!!
WOW.... President Carter! What an honor. He has been on Miss Paula’s show before, right?
Sounds like you had a wonderful Father’s Day. Next up.... a wonderful Birthday! I hope you have a great day filled with family, fun and, of course....food!!!!
My only question for you is....."When are you and Bobby coming back to Chicago so I can meet you?”
Happy Thursday to you and all my blog friends.

One question did the DEENS hit the slots and tables???? Or need I ask. HA HA
By Mary Lowder on June 25 2009
Hey Jamie..can you postpone your booksigning to July 26th (instead of the 24th), which is when I will be arriving???
By Alyce on June 25 2009
Hey Jamie,
I am glad you and your family had a wonderful vacation! I was wondering what time the book signing would be on July 24th? I looked on the Paula Deen website and it did not show the book signing on her schedule. I would LOVE to come to it, if I can get the day off from work! I just love your blog and love to read it every week. Keep doing good things!!

I’m glad ya’ll had a great vacation. We are about to go on ours, and it can’t come soon enough! I saw the episode of Kathy Griffin’s show when she went to Savannah, and it was hilarious! How was it getting to hang out with her? I hope everyone has a great weekend!
By Meagan on June 25 2009
Hi Jamie,
Glad your vacation was fun and hopefully relaxing.
Ok, question for you. A while back you said that you were filming an episode of Paula’s Best Dishes with your Mom. If I remember you were making meatloaf. What happened to the airing of that? Is is going to air soon? It looks like they’ve already begun repeating shows, and no Jamie!
And one more, I’m with Diane, any West Coast signings coming up?(a small hint...Phoenix????):D
Have a Very Happy Birthday, Jamie!
Take care,
Rose

Jamie…
You asked for questions…
What do you miss the most from the Bag Lady days?
Your ability to move about freely? Your having very little private life? Your having to answer our questions!!!! LOL
What do you “yearn” for from the good old days when it was just Miss Paula, Bobby and you?
Love,

I love you all and the show and it brings back such memories of home and good food and just family. My address is [removed by admin] and also I did get the one you had gotten for me of your mom. I have that on my mirror at home next to my dads picture. It is just so sweet and a real celebrity knowing that you all cared enough to send it to me meant the world. Love and peace be with you. Hi Jamie,
I am so glad to hear that Jack is potty trained, makes a world of difference. You and Brooke need to have another one, y’all make cute babies… I was wondering where will you and Bobby be in Nashville and what time? Thanks. Happy Belated Father’s Day.

Hi Jamie and Bobby,
Glad your back from your vacation. I really missed y’all.
When is the 3rd podcast?
Congrats to Jack on potty training! Your going up to fast!
When you have your book tour you can come-up to Lima, Ohio! I’m sure I would like to meet you again.
My question is: Do you and your family (like Paula, Bobby and Micheal) read these blog comments?
Oh, I sure do like your momma’s new web-site, Get Cookin! Bobby should do a blog on it!
Bye, bye

Jamie-
It was a pleasure for my family and I to be able to meet you outside of the restaurant today. You really brightened our day!
Thanks for the southern hospitality!

Hey Jamie,
It’s great to have you back. Sure did miss having a blog to read. It is always a highlight to my week so when there is not a blog to read then my week is not complete...LOL So glad y’all had a great vacation though. I watched the Kathy Griffin show featuring your mom last night and I haven’t laughed that hard in quite a while. But the one thing that really impressed me about your family was when at dinner, a prayer was said before y’all ate. You know, you don’t see that very often especially on tv. Seeing that made me love your family even more. Thanks to you & your family for being such a great inspiration to me and many others. Ok, here is my question for you this week....DO YOU HAVE A RELEASE DATE FOR YOUR & BOBBY’S NEW COOKBOOK???? I am super excited about this cookbook. Anyway, have a great week/weekend. Tell Bobby HEY for me!!!!!

A belated Happy Father’s Day and an early Happy Birthday!!
I have the same question as Rose: When are we going to see you on “Best Dishes”? We’ve seen the other family members at least once. It’s time that we see you, too!
By Kate from MA on June 26 2009
Hi guys: Glad you had a good vacation. I wrote Jay and asked him to tell us “his” version of the vacation. Thought maybe you might say more, Jamie. I felt bad hearing about Jack’s bump on the head. He’s braver than me to go parasailing!! I bet Brooke held her breath!!!
Looking forward to the next podcast. Also still can’t get the video to run properly. Lisa was kind enough, again, to give me some pointers but didn’t work for me. In watching the cooking demo video which was about 5 1/2 minutes long, took me almost 25 to get through it. Kept stopping every few seconds. Must be me but that’s okay.
Just booked my 5 day away Vermont vacation. In August, though. I need cool weather and checking out antiques. Haven’t been anywhere in 3 years.
Have a good weekend and 4th of July.

Hi Jamie; A very happy birthday! Glad your back and had great time. I loved to know when your book is coming out as well.

I am so excited to hear about your time in Americus. I lived there while Pres. Cater was in office because my Dad was the Secret Service agent assigned to his home. My family also lived there during my 9th grade year in HS because my Dad came back after he lost the election with him as head of Pres. Carter’s detail.
I have many fond memories of the Carter family and my time in South GA. Pres. & Mrs. Carter are wonderful people!
I live in Chattanooga, TN now and I am looking forward to attending the Food & Wine Festival in Nashville at the end of July.

Hi Jamie,
21 members of my family and I had lunch at the restaurant last Thursday and totally enjoyed it. We booked the downstairs room and the food and service was amazing. I remember one server was named Johnny but I don’t think I caught the name of the other two, they were wonderful to us though. It was the first time eating there for all of us. The only thing that would’ve made it better would have been meeting you guys. I see you were on vacation too though. We had our family reunion in Savannah last week and everyone had a blast. Maybe I will see you the next time we make it over there. I live in Thomasville, GA so it’s not too terribly far.

Mind if I ask what hotel you stayed in at the Atlantis? I know they have several.

Hi Jamie!
Congrats to Jack for reaching another milestone! This reminded me when my husband and I said the same thing last year with our boys...no more diapers! Time does fly, though. Really neat that Jack will be on the cover of GH mag. with your mom...I will look for that issue.
Glad to hear you and the family had a great time on vacation and your Father’s Day was a really good one too!
WOW! That’s really awesome to be able to spend some time with the Carters!
I have to say...it’s fun coming to the Deen family book signings and it’s always great to see you all! This month is a pretty hectic month and a big birthday month for us but...hopefully, we can make it to Savannah and see you all again.
Until next time...take care!!!

Hey Jamie,
Congratulations on little Jack being potty trained. My son will be 2 in August.... do you have any tips? Also, about how many words was Jack saying around his 2nd bday? My son understands everything, but just doesn’t talk too much. Hopefully one day I will get to meet you & Bobby. I met Paula & Michael at a book signing in Atlanta a few months ago & they were as sweet as could be. Take care!!

Howdy Jamie, as you can see my computer is,’nt doing so great. Congrats on your birthday. I just had one on July12. My son Justin and myself wre in Savannah in Aug.2003. Unfortunately we hadn’t heard about LADY AND SONS, or we would have goneto it . We stayed at the Radison on the river, and dida lot of touristy things suchas a ghost walk. We talked about where we wouldlike to live, as we were both getting tired of Portland,OR. We both decided we would like to move to Savannah., but unfortunately he drowned last year. I .hopefully, will move to Savannah next year. I watch Paula’s shows twice a day during the week andon weekends too. YOURS, Marge GOODNIGHT
