Hi Jamie,

On “Get Cookin” in Jay Hiers section it states that the book signing has been cancelled. Is it back on?

By Diane on July 08 2009

Sounds like you, Brooke and Jack had a great time.

LISA—HELP again.  Went on the Get Cookin’ website.  Asked for my password and email.  Typed that in.  Then it said Not Valid or Invalid.  Obviously my email address hasn’t changed nor has my password.  What’s up???

Left this on the ‘contact us’ as well: Felix’s Fish Camp in Mobile, Alabama has a crab soup that I dream about. I tell everyone about it that might be traveling to Florida from here (San Antonio,TX). It is amazingly good. Wish ya’ll would recreate it and share with me/us:) It’s a cream base...no potatoes. It is so silky smooth; every bite is “heaven”. We buy a quart on our way to Ft. Walton Beach and a quart on our return trip home; then salivate thinking about it until the next trip. Thanks for all the great recipes! Hope to make it to the restaurant in December...have an aunt who lives in Georgia.

Hey Jamie,
Here is the recipe I was telling you about on Tuesday for the graham cracker cake.  The company my mom worked for years ago put together a cookbook.  I have never seen this cake in another cookbook.  I collect cookbooks, so I have looked in bunches.  Any way, like I said it is off the point system for weight watchers, but it is sooo good.  If you do bake it, let me know please how you liked it.  The longer it sits, the better it is.  Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.  Karen
Graham Cracker Cake
1 sleeve graham crackers
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 c. coconut
1 egg
1 c. crushed pineapple, do not drain
1 c. flour (self-rising)
1 c. wesson oil
Crumble crackers and mix other ingredients with them.  Grease a 13x9 cake pan.  Bake at 350* for 35-45 minutes.
Topping
1 c. crushed pineapple
1 c. sugar
1 c. coconut
Boil 5 minutes.  Put onto cooled cake.

Jamie-
Just wanted to let you know how great the “get cookin” site is!  It’s like a mini Deen family Facebook...But better!  Love it!!!!

Hey, from ATHENS!

My family and I are big fans of all of you and your shows, cookbooks, etc.  And, of course, living in Athens, I feel the UGA love!
I’m going to be in Savannah next Monday and plan to have lunch at TLAS for my nephew’s birthday.  He graduated from Johnson and Wales, Charlotte in May 08, and has been working in the Georgian Room at the Cloister since then.  Any chance he could meet you boys while we are there??? Then I could take credit for a great, great birthday present!

Thanks!
Evelyn Hanes

Hi Jamie,
I haven’t seen you on the show or your own show for quite a while.  Are you just working at the resturant and will you be back on tv again?

Hi,
My best friend and I came to the restaurant to eat on July 7th.  The food was wonderful and our server was a hoot.  Imagine my surprise when I came down the stairs from shopping and saw Bobby standing there in the gift shop.  I literaly almost fell down the stairs!  It was so nice meeting you and having my picture taken with you. I have it framed and it is sitting on my desk.  It was the hi-lite of my vacation.  I had been planning this trip for 2 years and will be back next year.  Thanks so much.

I was wondering what the deal is with the book signing? What time is it? There gonna be wristbands like last time? Me and mom are thinking about coming again .

Hi Mr.Jamie,

My name is Cameryn, I am 10yrs old. My mom and I watch your mommas show everyday! Will Mrs. Paula ever do a show with kids? It is a dream of mine to cook with her. My mom said that on my 13th birthday we are going to come to eat at the Lady and Son’s. I can hardly wait! I sure hope I get to meet you guys! Is she as fun as she looks on T.V.? Even if I don’t ever get to cook with her, maybe she will be there when we get to come!
Please tell her that she has a REALLY BIG FAN in Alabama.

Thank you,
Cameryn Harris

P.S. everything is better with BUTTER!! haha

Hi

Just wanted to say, myself,my husband and 14yr old granddaughter were at the resturant on the 4th of July this year.  We really enjoyed everything! As for the wait, I told my family it was like an e-ticket ride, at the Fl. Parks(a little over an hour). It was worth the wait!  In fact, we are coming back for the book signing on Fri. the 24th.  Hopefully lunch too! My g.daughter,Bonnie is very excited and can’t wait to meet Paula , Jamie and Bobby.

See you soon, your South Fl. Fans,
Vicki, and family

We spent some time in the Beaufort area last winter and made a trip to Savannah to TL&S;restaurant. What a wonderful lunch we had and it was well worth the trip from Michigan! We did not meet any of y’all but I spent a fortune in the gift shop on books for gifts and myself. We love your mom’s shows and you boys too. Maybe we’ll be able to get back next winter. I to just ate at Felix’s in Mobil, AL and she’s right, the crab soup it to die for! We also bought a qt to go. When the waiter brought it to us, he started telling us what was in it before he was interupted and we had to leave. All I heard was half-n-half, onions, and crab meat. But he only named maybe 2 more ingredients I think. But I was wondering what would they do to make it thicker than what half-n-half is?
