Thank you Deb M.!!!!

Deb M. sent me a pizza from Lou Malnattie’s(?) in Chicago as a birthday gift.

A thousand thanks Deb! It was sooooo good too. I ate them both the day I received the package and yum yum, that is the best pizza in the whole world. I am holding steady in my “trying to eat better” plan, I hate to say diet, but I dove into those pies with both feet. For those of you who have not had a true deep dish pizza, and if you count the delivery places… you haven’t, you must find a way to get next to one soon. The cheese is the bottom layer and then sauce and topped with meat, sausage is my favorite( thanks again Deb) and it’s deep and crispy. One of a kind and the best. The Best!

Brooke and I celebrated our birthday’s this year by taking Jack to the Thomas the Train live stage show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta and we could not have had a better day. He is at the age of everything being such a wonder. We just watched his face for two hours and every time he turned to us wide eyed and his little mouth forming a perfect O we melted. We need a second child to tip the scales back to an equal balance. We are both hopeless suckers for that kid.

The book-signing will be 8:am until 10:am or so, I figure we will run over, at the restaurant Friday July the 24rd. We are gonna have some fun so I hope anyone that wants to come can make the trip.

Oh, quick aside to Maryan, my wife was a Zeta too.

Gotta boogie y’all, thanks for checking back

Do good
-jamie

P.S. I was so busy I almost forgot to say thank y’all for a great first year for me on the blog. It’s been a little over one year and we have had 1.2 million views! Thanks again.

Back to the blog.

Hi Jamie,

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since the start of your blog, congratulations on it’s success. Will you also be blogging on your Mom’s “Get Cookin”?

Take care and have a great week!

Deb M. You are such a suck up!!lol!! BUT I would have done the same thing if I was closer....smile

By Andrea L. on July 07 2009

oh......Jamie, I was so worried that you did not get the pizza.  I have been on pins and needles waiting to hear.  Did not want you to get mush!  Am soooooooooo happy you enjoyed them!  Just think of it as health food, tomatoes, cheese, spices.....Just wanted you to have as much joy eating them, as I get from you!

So happy your birthday was great!  You deserve all the joy you can get!  Am happy Brooke had a nice day too.

Now, we want to hear all about your vacation.  Hope sweet baby Jack’s head is better.

I can’t believe it’s been a year!  I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and look forward to many more great times “together”!

Now....we need to get you on Get Cookin’

I get the feeling that Jack alone, or 2 or 3 more children, the scales will always tilt, you seem like such a wonderful Dad, I don’t think you will ever be in balance again!

Wish I could be at the book signing.  PLEASE..... come to Chicago when your new book comes out.....PLEASE???????!!!!!!!

You know I love ya,

Deb M

Jamie - my big sister made deep fried butter with your mom a while ago.  Any idea where I can get my hands on a copy of show?  Maybe on DVD?

Jamie,

We took our 14 month old son to see Thomas the Tank Engine at Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock, North Carolina last month.  Even at that age, you could tell he was fascinated by getting to ride the train with Thomas pulling it and he also got to meet Sir Topham Hat.  You all should make plans to come next year, it is during the first of June each year.  Happy belated Birthday to you both.

Hi Jamie!

I’m so jealous you got Lou’s pizza for your b-day.  I’m glad you enjoyed it!  I went to college in the near West ‘burbs of Chi-town, and I miss Lou’s somethin’ fierce!!!!  It is always on the menu when I visit friends up there.  I guess I’ll have to have some shipped to me!

I love hearing about you, Brooke and Jack!  I just dropped the registration and deposit at my daughter’s school yesterday for her first year of school.  It is so hard to believe she’s that old (4 1/2) and entering Pre-K!!!!  It’s such a mixed bag of emotions...I’m happy that she is healthy and growing and yet sad that so many milestones have passed all too quickly.

Thank you, Bobby and your Mom for sharing your love, lives and talents with us!

God bless!

MMMM Chicago deep dish pizza!!!  Now i’m hungry for it! I use to travel to Chicago each year for a convention the company i worked for put on, it was wonderful!  Now i find my way trying to find a reason to go back to Chicago just to get pizza. I’m so jealous.

By Tara on July 08 2009

Hi Jamie and Bobby, good to hear from you guys.  Sounds like you had fun with Jack.  At that age, everything seems to be fascinating.

A question for Lisa:  Me again with problems.  Went on the Get Cookin’ page and I was asked to put my email address and my password in which I did.  It (whatever that is) said Invalid email and password.  Well, my email hasn’t changed nor has my password.  So I kept trying and then i get the message that my password has been locked.  What’s up?  Can you do something?
Hugs to the bros.  And a big THANK YOU to Lisa.

Hey Joey,

I read somewhere that the new Deen Brother’s cookbook is due out September 8th, I think at Amazon.com.

Any one that wants it, the pizza is online at Loumalnoti.com.  They will ship it right to you or to any where you ask.  I just happened to ask it to go to “My Good Friend Jamie Deen!!!!!”

Andrea,
I would do any thing for my Deen’s!

Melody M,
Where are you from?  I live in Darien, southwest of Chicago.

Boy I sure sound like I know it all!!!  LOL smile
I just love all things Deen!

Hey Lisa and Phil!  Hope you had a great holiday too.

By Deb M on July 08 2009

Thanks, Deb. In true geek fashion, Phil spent his holiday weekend working on his project car, and I spent mine working on my house getting it ready to sell. So we had a good holiday, just not in the traditional ways.

Hey Jamie...sounds like the three of you had such a great time, especially for Jack...great fun all around!!
That’s a GREAT gift to get for your birthday...that is seriously good pizza.
Happy ‘Blog’ Anniversary!  I can’t believe it’s been a year already!?!  I always enjoy reading your blog Jamie, and wishing many many more blogs to come!
I just read what Diane wrote in the next post and is it true...the book signing has been canceled?

Hope your weekend is a good one and talk to you next week!
Take Care!!!

Deb M. good thinking, the perfect gift...I agree, we’re all just mad because we didn’t think of it. Thanks for the info. about the pizza.

Jamie, glad you had a nice birthday w/your family.  Kids are fun, aren’t they! I have two boys, 5 and 3. My little guy likes Thomas too. We have a sing-a-long book. We sing it over and over smile There’s an interesting show coming to Atlanta in September called Walking with the Dinosaurs where they come to life. Not sure if it would be too scary for Jack but it looks good. I am going to try and take my guys in DC.

I know the announcement for the Grand Prize of the ICBINB contest is soon.  Can you give us an exact date?  At work we’re planning a ‘Butter Day Party’ (at lunch of course).  That way, whether we win or lose we’ll enjoy your mama’s good dishes and it’ll be a party, party, party.

Thanks so much for Blogging.  I always check in. It’s fun to see what everyone is doing.

Have a good week, enjoy this beautiful weather.

p.s. - I made your Mama’s Blueberry Cobbler from the magazine this time. It was so good and easy to make. I made it Sunday night and shared it w/neighbors and co-workers....it was all gone by Tuesday. Gwenda, I know, I’m sorry, I’ll catch ya next time when the white peaches and blackberries come in.

Hey,

Saw your post about Jack and Thomas the Train. I’m from Albany, too, but work at the hospital in Cordele. Thomas the Train comes through a couple of times a year with the SAM Shortline. He’s coming through again in October. (October 23-25, 30-31 and Nov. 1) You actually get to ride the train pulled by Thomas and get your picture taken with Sir Topham Hatt. You can find out more at http://www.samshortline.com or http://www.thomasandfriends.com. Jack would probably love it! And, it’s not too far from “home”.
